The fault was rectified and I also received a short video of a general inspection of my car, including checks regarding tyres, brakes, suspension etc. I found this useful.

Regardless of if there was in fact an issue with the phone a mobile could have been used or maybe the working reception phone less than 3 meters from their desk. A customer shouldn't chase and the phone issue was surely know about during the day
